How to get to the castle?

• on foot
• by car
• by tour bus

On foot

From the train station follow the red tourist mark for about 2,2 km (30 minutes of walk).

From the bus station follow the red tourist mark for about 1,9 km (30 minutes walk).

We recommend using IDOS timetables to find train/bus connections to Vimperk.

By car

I want to see Vimperk and I would like to walk through the historical centre:

• The central car park for visitors to Vimperk is by the Volyňka River (49.0545942N, 13.7817433E).
  From the car park it is possible to walk to the castle along the red tourist sign and walk through the historical centre. On the way back you can take the castle alley, past the Church of St. Bartholomew.

• Visitors coming from the direction of Strážný and Kubova Huť can also park in the car park near the hotel Terasa (49.0512778N, 13.7742753E).

I have health limitations or I am in a hurry:

• Park about 100 m from the entrance gate to the castle in the Podzámčí car park (above the summer cinema, 49.0563006N, 13.7734775E).
  The number of spaces in the car park is limited (approx. 30 spaces).
  The easiest way to get to the car park is to drive above the housing estate on the road to Kašperské Hory and Sušice and turn left at the Vodník complex onto Hřbitovní Street.

By tour bus

The tour bus cannot enter the centre of Vimperk! Please follow the traffic signs indicating the castle and the bus.

The signs will lead you along the road towards Kašperské Hory and Sušice up above the housing estate. Do not be confused by a feeling that you are leaving Vimperk and moving away from the castle - that is correct.

At the Vodník complex, turn left onto Hřbitovní Street, which will take you to the entrance gate of the castle. It is possible to drop off passengers and turn around in front of the castle, but it is not possible to park here.

The official bus parking lot is in the ČSAD premises on Špidrova Street. However, due to the more difficult passage through the town, we recommend driving to the former barracks area U Sloupů, where there are large areas where it is possible to stand with the bus.
