A Castle on the boundary of two worlds
Formerly a seat of the Lobkowicz family, Jezeří was an important cultural and social centre that was neglected in the Communist period and fell into long-term disrepair. Reconstruction work began in the late 1990s, but in view of the size of the building it is a long-term project. Despite this complication, the chateau was made accessible to the public In a unique way, so as to enable the restoration work to be observed. The highly unusual experience of seeing the monument coming back to life is rewarding and visitors will be witness to the gradual restoration and resurrection of the former ”Gem of the Ore Mountains” if they make frequent visits.
